Liposuction

What is meant by Liposuction ?

Liposuction is a non invasive solution for those aspiring to get rid of the excess fat , accumulated due to weight gain, pregnancy or some medical conditions. In this procedure , through puncture wounds in the skin, small cannulae are passed beneath the skin and thereby, excess fat is aspirated out of body. This gives the patient a well shaped body.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. CAN FAT TISSUE ONCE AGAIN ACCUMULATE IN THE AREAS TREATED?
    • Ans: Once pubertal age has passed, the fat cells take a long time to reproduce, but they maintain the ability to “grow” in size, which is why once we eliminate and reduce the number of fat cells (adipocytes) in body, these deposits do not return, provided we follow a healthy diet, without excess.
  2. WHEN CAN I BATHE OR SHOWER FOLLOWING LIPOSUCTION?
    • Ans: The time to bathe will be determined by the time you can remove the corset and replace it without causing discomfort and when the swelling begins to go down, this can be 2 or 3 days after the procedure.
  3. HOW MUCH REST WILL I NEED PRIOR TO RETURNING TO WORK AFTER LIPOSUCTION?
    • Ans: It can vary depending on the extent of the procedure, but we generally recommend 5 to 7 days, provided the return to work does not involve too much physical effort or very active movement.
  4. CAN LIPOSUCTION IMPROVE OR ELIMINATE CELLULITE?
    • Ans: Cellulite or orange peel skin is a skin problem that manifests as small depressions in the buttocks, legs and hips. Liposuction does not cure or improve cellulite directly, but by reducing the load and volume in certain areas, partially eliminating the fibrous walls and favouring better lymphatic drainage, can reduce the marks and appearance of cellulite. On the other hand, lipolaser can achieve an improvement in certain cases, as it permits the extraction of the adipose walls and improves skin retraction.
  5. CAN I UNDERGO LIPOSUCTION IF I AM VERY OVERWEIGHT?
    • Yes, of course, you must simply bear in mind that liposuction is not a method of losing weight but rather of losing volume. The Sparsh Clinic has very extensive and protocolised casuistry for the liposuction of large volumes, technique we have mastered over the years.
  6. WILL THERE BE A LOT OF BRUISING AND SWELLING AFTER LIPOSUCTION?
    • Bruising and inflammation may appear in the area for a few days, even weeks; with the bruising usually disappearing after 7 to 14 days and the most notable swelling after one or two weeks. Subsequently there is little residual swelling which is barely perceptible and which may remain for one or two months after the procedure.
  7. WHEN WILL I SEE THE EFFECTS OF LIPOSUCTION OPERATION?
    • Once the acute swelling has subsided you can already see the initial results, in other words after 3 weeks to 2 months depending on the extent of the intervention, although definitive results may take 6 to 9 months.
